These terms apply to the use of the website tourism.augursignals.is ("the service"), which Viðar Ingason runs as an individual ("we"). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms.
The service
The service publishes monthly forecasts and analyses of Icelandic tourism. The overview page is open to everyone. Other pages require an account.
Accounts
- An account is for one individual, and the sign-in may not be shared with others.
- You are responsible for the email address you provide being yours and for keeping others out of it.
- You are responsible for all use that takes place under your account.
Open trial period and charges
During the open trial period access is free, at least until 1 January 2027. After that we reserve the right to start charging for access to anything other than the overview page. Registered users will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance. No one will be charged unless they buy a subscription themselves. Subscriptions will then be governed by separate terms, including on price, cancellation and refunds.
Permitted use
You may use the service for your own purposes and in the internal operations of your company or institution, and you may quote individual figures, e.g. in reports and presentations, provided the source is credited ("Source: Ferðaþjónustan, tourism.augursignals.is").
You may not:
- retrieve data by automated means (e.g. with programs, scripts or scraping), except with our written permission;
- republish, sell, rent or distribute the service's data in whole or in substantial part;
- use the data to build a service that competes with the service;
- attempt to circumvent the access control or disrupt the operation of the service.
Intellectual property
The service's forecasts, analyses, text and presentation are our property and are protected by copyright law. The underlying public data, e.g. from Statistics Iceland, are subject to the terms of their respective publishers.
The nature of the forecasts and limitation of liability
The forecasts are statistical estimates of future developments and carry uncertainty. The uncertainty bands shown describe part of it, but not all. The information is not investment, financial or business advice and is provided as is, with no warranty that it is correct, complete or fit for any particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from decisions made on the basis of information from the service, nor for loss due to the service being temporarily unavailable.
Closing an account
You can stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted at any time, by request to augur@augursignals.is. We may close an account without notice if these terms are breached.
Privacy
Personal data are handled in accordance with our privacy policy.
Changes to the terms
We may change these terms. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email before they take effect. Continued use after they take effect counts as acceptance of the changed terms.
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by Icelandic law. Disputes concerning them shall be brought before the Reykjavík District Court (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur).
